From one of Philips final collections before retirement is this "Vintage Edwardian Inspired" Hat. Features a Black Lattice Saucer sitting at an angle over a 'Sorbet' Pink Straw Beret Skull Base, covered in Black Lace with huge arrangement of Black Goose Hackle Plumes and Flowers made of Pale Pink Curled Goose Feathers. On top of the Saucer sits a large matching 'Sorbet' Pink Sinamay bow, decorated with Pink Swarovski Crystals.
Sadly now recently retired, Philip Somerville was the Official hat maker to British Royalty from 1995 until his retirement, dressing the Queen for many, many Royal Ascot Races, and also Princess Diana and Kate Middleton. Somerville began to work as a hat maker in 1972. Starting out as a subcontractor in the millinery departments, of luxury department stores such as Harrod's and Saks 5th Avenue, he opened his own Store on London's Bond Street, 15 years later..
